BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior Nicole Barr (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) notched 21 kills and 14 digs to lead Gettysburg to 3-1 victory at Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Tuesday.
The Bullets (12-2, 1-0 CC) came back to take game one 30-27 before running away from the Blue Jays (7-9, 1-2 CC) in game two, 30-15. JHU came out on top of 31-29 decision to force game four, but Gettysburg came away victorious, 30-20.
Erin Barkdoll (Dover, PA/Dover) also ended with double-digit kills (14) while Jessica Cortese (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) and Erica Rau (Oakland Park, FL/Pine Crest) ended with nine and eight, respectively.
Junior Shannan Smith (Milmont Park, PA/Ridley) finished the match with 55 assists.
Sophomore Steph Vial (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) matched her career high with 28 digs. Cortese and Margaret Hallahan (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon) also contributed on defense with 14 digs apiece.
Smith and Rau added two service aces each, and Rau had a block solo and block assist.
Gettysburg returns to action at Swarthmore on Thursday. Match time is 7 p.m.
