ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) tallied two goals for the second straight game leading No. 24 Gettysburg to a 4-1 victory over Elizabethtown in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday.
It took Myers, the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, fewer than 10 minutes to put the Bullets on the board off a pass from Steph Smith (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) Kat Poster (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale).
Senior Jenny Line (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) netted the eventual game-winner and her first goal this season at 30:10 off a pass from Kristen Igusky (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name), putting Gettysburg up, 2-0.
Elizabethtown's Dana Moyer brought her squad within one before the close of the first half, converting on a penalty kick at 32:52.
Gettysburg would not relinquish the lead in the second half. Myers struck again, connecting with Maggie Cirrito (Garden City, NY/Garden City) at 74:12 for her team-high eighth goal this year. Cirrito also scored her first goal of the 2004 off a pass from Kat Poster (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) in the 79th minute.
The Bullets outshot the Blue Jays 11-4 and had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
In the goal, Kristin Short/Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) made three saves, while Dawn Mellen collected four stops in the losing effort.
With the win, the Bullets continue a seven-game unbeaten streak matching the longest in the past four years.
Gettysburg returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
