scored the first two Gettysburg goals of the night to lead
the Orange &
Blue to a 4-1 victory at Eastern
Mennonite in non-conference field hockey action on Friday.
Jonalyn Denlinger
netted the Royals (0-1) only goal of the evening while Christina Bender made 10 saves in goal.
Freshman Katherine
Corkhill (Paoli,
PA/Academy
of Notre Dame)
made four saves for the Bullets (1-0) in her debut between
the pipes.
Denlinger
opened scoring 1:02 into the contest before Lowe tallied
twice to give Gettysburg the lead for good in the 41st
minute.
Lowe netted an unassisted
marker at the 5:35 mark to knot the game at 1-all, but neither
team could find the backboard again until Lowe converted
a penalty stroke 5:48 into the second stanza.
Sophomore Maura
Downey (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) and freshman Amy Schneider (Allentown,
PA/Moravian
Academy),
both in their first season with the squad, added a goal
apiece to round out scoring.
Downey
scored off an assist from Becky
Latta (West Chester, PA/Henderson) at 42:02 before Schnieder netted her first collegiate goal unassisted 17 minutes
later.
For the game, the Bullets
outshot Eastern Mennonite, 23-9.
The
Bullets return to action at Elizabethtown
on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
