SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior Jessica Cortese (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) recorded her fifth double-double of the season to lift Gettysburg to a 3-0 win at Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Thursday.
Cortese paced the Bullets (13-2, 2-0 CC) to their 11th straight victory with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Gettysburg won easily in game one, 30-11. The Garnet (6-10, 1-4 CC) put up a tougher battle in games two and three, but the Bullets still managed the sweep, winning 30-26 and 30-24, respectively.
Seniors Nicole Barr (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) and Erin Barkdoll (Dover, PA/Dover) contributed in the attack with nine kills apiece.
Shannan Smith (Milmont Park, PA/Ridley) added 38 assists, 10 digs and a team-high three service aces.
Hillary Prutzman (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added two block solos and two block assists while Cortese three total blocks apiece.
With the sweep, Gettysburg improves to 23-0 all-time against Swarthmore, including sweeps in the last 21 meetings.
The Bullets return to action in two conference matches on Saturday. Gettysburg plays at Bryn Mawr at 11 a.m., before traveling over to Haverford for a match at 2:30 p.m.
