Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – David Glaser (West Chester, PA/Malvern Prep) posted game highs with 24 points and eight rebounds to lead Gettysburg past Washington (Md.) 78-62 in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s basketball action on Tuesday.

Glaser, the CC’s leader in both field goal and 3-point percentage entering the contest, connected on 10 of 13 shots from the floor to help the Bullets (6-6, 3-2 CC) snap a four-game home losing streak, the program’s longest since a six-game skid in 1996-97.

Ryan Page (Laurel, MD/St. John’s College [DC]) hit 5 of 7 shots to finish with 12 points while Mike Spadafora (Richboro, PA/Archbishop Wood) added 11, including two free throws that put Gettysburg ahead to stay at the 14:20 mark of the first half.

Kyle Stem converted 13 of 14 free throws en route to a team-best 17 points for the Shoremen (5-7, 2-3 CC). Jonathan Webb also hit double digits with 16.

Seeking their first home win since opening night, the Bullets overcame a 4-for-17 shooting performance from 3-point range by converting 27 of 40 shots from inside the arc, handing Washington its fifth straight loss at Bream Gym.

Webb, Stem and John Alexander staked the Shoremen to early one-point leads before Glaser keyed a 10-0 run that put Gettysburg ahead for the rest of the night.

Spadafora hit two free throws to make it 11-10 and Glaser netted a 3-pointer and a layup. Matt Whelan (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield/Worcester Acad. [MA]) knocked down a 3-pointer to cap the burst and give the Bullets a 19-10 lead midway through the half.

Glaser’s layup at 2:21 gave Gettysburg its first double-digit lead of the night at 33-23. After a Glaser free throw in the final seconds, Stem cut the deficit to 34-27 with a driving layup at the halftime buzzer.

A Webb 3-pointer pulled Washington within 36-31 early in the second half, but the next five and a half minutes belonged to Gettysburg.

Glaser scored six straight points to make it an 11-point game and Spadafora followed a pair of layups to make it 46-33. Webb’s jumper temporarily halted the run, but Page drained a three, Glaser hit a layup and Spadafora put back a missed 3-pointer for a 53-35 advantage with 13:08 left.

A free throw by Page gave the Bullets their largest lead of the night at 72-50 with 4:57 remaining.

After going 12-for-26 from the floor in the first half (46 percent), Gettysburg hit 19 of 31 shots (61 percent) after the break.

In addition to his 24-point, eight-rebound performance, Glaser also matched a career high with four blocked shots.
Kyle Jakobe (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh/Peddie [NJ]) added nine points and six rebounds for the Bullets.

Alexander finished with nine points for the Shoremen.

Gettysburg returns to action on Thursday at home against Haverford. Game time is 8 p.m.
