GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Tom Fives (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) took a 5-2 decision victory in the final bout of the match to lift Gettysburg to its initial Centennial Conference (CC) win of the season, defeating Johns Hopkins 22-20 in wrestling action on Tuesday.
With the Blue Jays (5-7, 2-3 CC) taking a 20-19 lead on a Shawn Gould forfeit victory at 149, the Bullets (5-5, 1-1 CC) needed a win at 157 to claim their fifth win in the last six matches.
Trailing 2-1 to open the second period, JHU's Dustin Tamsen chose the bottom position and earned an escape to knot the bout at 2-all.
Midway through the period, Fives grabbed the match-clinching takedown to take a 4-2 advantage and added an escape to start the third period for the 5-2 win.

Scoreless entering the final period, Gettysburg's Mike Pattanite (Tabernacle, NJ/Holy Cross) chose down but DeGaravilla rode him out for the entire period to win 1-0 on riding time, stretching the Blue Jays' advantage to 11-7.
Jimmy Van Daniker tacked on a 9-2 win at 125 to push the lead to 14-7 before the Bullets started their own comeback.

Trailing 6-5 after the first period, Cottiers escaped and notched the takedown 27 seconds into the stanza for the 3-minute, 27-second fall.
