COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Matt Shank (Reedsville, PA/Indian Valley) recorded another 4-0 day to lead Gettysburg to a 3-1 day at Ursinus in wrestling action on Saturday.

The Bullets fell to Centennial Conference (CC) foe Bears (13-0, 2-0 CC) before winning three straight matches to close the day.

Gettysburg (8-6, 1-2 CC) defeated Waynesburg 27-13, Gallaudet 48-0 and Washington & Jefferson, 34-21.

With Shank's four wins, he improved to 33-5, becoming the first Bullet to eclipse 30 wins since Jake Dell won 40 in 1997-98. He also moves with one of tying Gettysburg's freshman record of 34 (Dell, 1994-95).

An Anthony Valles forfeit at 125 and Eddie Murray 10-2 major decision win at 133 led to a 10-0 lead for Ursinus.

The Bears extended the lead to 25-3 before Daniel Donnelly (Garden City, NY/Garden City) won 9-4 at 174.

Mike Pattanite (Tabernacle, NJ/Holy Cross) recorded Gettysburg's only other win of the match by a 10-6 margin at heavyweight.

Against Waynesburg (4-11-1), Ray Cottiers (New Milford, NJ/New Milford) and Shank tallied back-to-back forfeit victories at 141 and 149, respectively, to turn a 6-0 hole into a 12-6 lead.

Senior Tom Fives (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) extended the lead to 15-6 with a 4-1 win at 157.

After a Tyler Allen 13-5 major decision win at 165, Donnelly and John Leinberger (Great Falls, VA/Langley) posted consecutives decisions 5-4 and 7-5, respectively, for a 21-10 Bullet advantage.

Against Gallaudet (0-7), Shank led five Gettysburg pins with a 53-second fall at 149 for a 12-0 lead.
