HAVERFORD and BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Hillary Prutzman (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and Katie Heffner (Easton, PA/Easton) combined for 57 kills and Gettysburg hit .311 to defeat Haverford 3-2 and Bryn Mawr 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.

 Prutzman put down a team season-high 21 kills against the Fords and Heffner led the way with 12 against the Owls, lifting the Bullets (11-8, 4-1 CC) into first place in the conference standings. Shannan Smith (Milmont Park, PA/Ridley) added 71 assists against Haverford, six shy of the program’s single-match record.

 Erica Rau (Oakland Park, FL/Pine Crest) hit .371 with 18 kills and five solo blocks to key a thrilling win over the Fords, who entered the day as the CC’s last unbeaten team. Haverford knotted the match at 2 with a 30-27 win in game four, but Gettysburg answered with a 15-11 victory in the fifth game.

 Heffner added 15 kills in the opening-match win. Jayme Massey (Springfield, PA/Merion Mercy Acad.) and Meghan McConville (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) also reached double figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. The Bullets’ 79 kills were five shy of the program’s single-match record.

 After making the short trip to Bryn Mawr, Gettysburg notched its second win of the day by scores of 30-21, 30-18, 30-19, winning for the sixth time in its last seven matches.

 Heffner hit .423 with 12 kills against only one attack error while Prutzman knocked down nine more kills. Smith put up 34 assists to help the Bullets improve to 13-0 all-time against the Owls.

 McConville finished with 19 kills and a .405 hitting percentage for the two matches. Steph Vial (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) recorded 52 digs on the day, including 34 against Haverford.

 Gettysburg returns to action on Tuesday at Franklin & Marshall. Match time is 7 p.m.
