Goddu, Seidel strike twice to lift Gettysburg over Fords, 6-1

Box Score

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Meg Goddu (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) and Bridget Seidel (Mohnton, PA/Gov. Mifflin) scored two goals apiece to help 18th-ranked Gettysburg post its first road win of the season, a 6-1 Centennial Conference (CC) decision at Haverford on Saturday.

Goddu added her first assist of the campaign to increase her team-leading point total to 31. Her 15 goals is already a single-season career high.

Becky Latta (West Chester, PA/Henderson) contributed the game-winning goal and her team-leading seventh and eighth assists of the year, helping the Bullets (7-3, 3-0 CC) improve to 1-3 away from Memorial Field. Gettysburg is 6-0 on its home grass.

Krissy Browning (Baldwin, MD/Fallston) also scored a goal in the win, her seventh of the year.

Zoe Lloyd tallied the Fords only goal of the day, converting a penalty corner with one second left in the first half.

After three games and 20 minutes, 12 seconds of action, Seidel put back her own rebound for the Bullets’ first goal on the road in 2005. Browning made it 2-0 exactly three minutes later, scoring off a cross from Goddu.

Latta pushed the lead to 3-0 with a drive off Gettysburg’s fourth penalty corner opportunity of the period.

Haverford was heading scorelessly into halftime before Vicki Mui put a shot on Katherine Corkhill (Paoli, PA/Acad. of Notre Dame) and Lloyd knocked in the rebound with one second left in the half.

Goddu needed only 50 seconds of second-half play to answer with an unassisted goal for a 4-1 lead. The senior then converted her 15th goal of the year at 50:19 off a pass from Latta, capping a sequence of two saves by Amie Roe and two Bullet penalty corners in a span of three minutes.

Seidel converted another penalty-corner assist from Latta to close the scoring with 14:07 left.

Corkhill made four saves while Roe finished with seven stops.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday at Franklin & Marshall. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
