GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Andy Carmer (Parkton, MD/Dulaney) and Ashley Hillard (Latham, NY/Shaker) posted team-best finishes as Gettysburg’s men and women placed seventh and 10th, respectively, at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.

 Carmer crossed the line 14th out of 232 runners in an 8-kilometer time of 27:09.54, helping the Bullets finish ahead of Centennial Conference competitors McDaniel (8th) and Johns Hopkins (14th). The conference championship meet will be held on Oct. 29 in suburban Baltimore.

 Eric Dunklee (Barton, VT/St. Johnsbury Acad.) placed 25th in a time of 27:22.34 while Frank Hoban (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) finished 37th with a time of 27:48.60. For the third consecutive meet, Chris Magette (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) (64th) and Kevin Lawrence (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) (79th) closed out Gettysburg’s top five.

 Alderson-Broaddus senior Ben Bolock won the men’s race in a time of 26:31.87 while Shippensburg took home the team title.

 On the women’s side, Hillard traversed the 6-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 19.31 seconds to key the Bullets’ top-10 finish. Brett Jackson (Arnold, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was next for Gettysburg, finishing 59th with a time of 25:42.49.

 Rachel Guthridge (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) (66th), Barb Creveling (Easton, PA/Easton) (83rd) and Christine Burke (Springfield, PA/Springfield) (88th) rounded out the Bullet scorers, all of whom finished in a span of 1 minute, 9 seconds.

 Loyola (Md.) senior Caitlin Dunne won the women’s race in a time of 22:05.37 while Denison claimed the team victory by three points over Alderson-Broaddus, 98-101.

 Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at the Elizabethtown Invitational. The women’s race begins at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 11:45 a.m.
