Wright’s goal and assist lead Gettysburg over Franklin & Marshall, 2-0

Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Shaina Wright (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg) assisted Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) on the game-winning goal and collected an insurance goal to lead Gettysburg over Franklin & Marshall 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday night.

Wright’s goal and assist were the first in her career. Myers’ goal gave her six in the last six games and was her fourth consecutive game with a goal.

Wright’s assist came in the 22nd minute on a pass through the Diplomat defense that Myers ran on to. The reigning CC Player of the Week dribbled twice and beat the goalie low for her second game-winning goal of the season.  Myers’ goal came on her third shot of the game, after the first two had found posts.

Megan Murphy (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) assisted on Wright’s second-half goal, playing a long cross from the right side that bounced through traffic. Wright volleyed the cross just under the crossbar to give the Bullets a security tally.

Danielle St.Pierre (Londonberry, NH/Trinity) made two saves in the Gettysburg goal en route to her first collegiate shutout.

The Bullet defense, led by Kristin Igusky (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name), Laurie Goon (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven), Katie Yamamoto (Hollis, NH/Hollis-Brookline) and Murphy limited the Diplomat attack to three shots in the game.

Franklin & Marshall goalie Robyn Jones made six saves in the losing effort.

Gettysburg held a 13-2 edge in shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.

Gettysburg returns to action Saturday against Haverford. Game time is 1 p.m.
