ELIZABETHTOWN,
Pa. – Ashley Hillard (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Greg Cumming
(Bainbridge, NY/Bainbridge-Guilford) were the top Gettysburg finishers
as the Bullets competed at the Elizabethtown Invitational on Saturday.
Hillard finished the 4K course in 35th place with a time
of 16:41 as the Gettysburg women placed eighth in their final tune-up before next
week’s Centennial Conference championship meet. Freshman Rachel Guthridge
(Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) was the second Bullet to cross the
line, placing 39th with a time of 16:47.
Anna
Markowitz (Macungie, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), Becca Zabel
(Frederick, MD/Urbana) and Amanda Langlois (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow)
rounded out Gettysburg’s scorers.
On
the men’s side, Cumming finished 62nd overall in the 6K race to lead the Bullets,
who placed seventh as a team. Rob Werk (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) and
Zak Golladay (Newark, DE/St. Mark’s) finished second and third,
respectively, for Gettysburg.
The
Bullet men and women return to action on Saturday at the Centennial Conference
championship meet to be held at Oregon Ridge Park in surburban Baltimore. The
women’s race begins at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 12 p.m.
