Miller’s milestones lead Gettysburg over Washington, 3-0

Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Erin Miller (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony’s) made her first collegiate goal the game-winner and also added an assist to help Gettysburg defeat Washington College 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Friday.

Miller, Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary’s Acad.) and Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) all scored a goal and added an assist for the Bullets (4-6-2, 2-2-1 CC), who improved to 7-0 all-time against the Shorewomen, including four straight shutouts.

Stephanie Bradley took two of Washington’s three shots and Amanda Frushour made six saves in the loss.

Playing in a driving rain throughout the night, Gettysburg used a 17-3 shot advantage to bounce back from a tough 1-0 loss to McDaniel on Wednesday.

Miller put the Bullets on the board in the 23rd minute, taking a through ball from Ferraro and skipping a shot past a diving Frushour for the first goal of her collegiate career.

Frushour made three saves and got help from her left post on a shot by Myers before Gettysburg scored again in the 62nd minute. This time Myers provided the pass and Ferraro struck a shot to the middle of the upper netting for a key insurance goal, her third of the season.

Myers converted the last of her game-high five shots in the 77th minute to close the scoring, tying Steph Smith (Hanover, PA/Cooperstown Central [NY]) for the team goal-scoring lead (4) in the process. Miller notched her first collegiate assist on the play.

Kristin Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony’s) stopped Sarah Yarbrough on the Shorewomen’s only shot on goal to record her third shutout of the season.
The Bullets return to action on Tuesday at Johns Hopkins. Game time is 7 p.m.
