CARLISLE, Pa. – Eric Dunklee (Barton, VT/St. Johnsbury Acad.) and Ashley Hillard (Latham, NY/Shaker) posted team-best finishes to lead the Gettysburg men’s and women’s cross country teams at the NCAA Mideast regional meet on Saturday at Carlisle High School.

 The Bullet men placed 14th out of 40 teams while the women finished 18th out of 42 squads.

 In the men’s race, Dunklee placed 31st overall in a personal-best 8K time of 26:58.3, earning All-Region honors in the process. Andy Carmer (Parkton, MD/Dulaney), the team leader at the Centennial Conference meet two weeks ago, followed in 49th with a time of 27:20.3.

Freshman Frank Hoban (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore), who earned a spot on the freshman All-Region squad, also covered the course in fewer than 28 minutes, placing 77th overall in a time of 27:54.7.

 Chris Magette (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and Kevin Lawrence (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) closed out Gettysburg’s scorers, finishing 94th and 145th, respectively.

 On the women’s side, Hillard and Brett Jackson (Arnold, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finished within 8.2 seconds of each other, crossing 72nd and 78th, respectively. Hillard finished the six-kilometer race in a time of 24:48.2 while Jackson also broke 25 minutes at 24:56.4.

 Rachel Guthridge (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) finished 114th overall in a time of 25:34.1 while Christine Burke (Springfield, PA/Springfield) and Becca Zabel (Frederick, MD/Urbana) rounded out the Bullets’ top five.

 The Haverford men and Dickinson women claimed the regional team championships.
