Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Tiffany Kirk scored a game-high 20 points and Kristen Piscadlo posted 17 points and 10 assists to lead Muhlenberg over Gettysburg 80-73 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s basketball action on Thursday.

Kirk, who didn’t see the floor in Saturday’s 58-53 loss to the Bullets (11-10, 8-6 CC) at Bream Gym, made the most of 33 minutes on Thursday, drilling four 3-pointers to help the Mules (10-12, 6-9 CC) win their seventh straight home game in the series. Lacie Smith had Muhlenberg’s other double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Emily Falk (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) paced four players in double figures with 18 points for Gettysburg, which led only once on the night and fell a full game behind fourth-place Swarthmore (9-5) in the CC standings. The Bullets remain one game ahead of Franklin & Marshall (7-7) for the conference’s fifth and final playoff spot.

Falk added seven rebounds, three assists and four steals to her 18-point showing, connecting on 4 of 7 3-point attempts. Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation) chipped in with 15 points off the Gettysburg bench.

Making her third start of the season, Kirk opened the scoring with a 3-pointer and later added a layup as the Mules jumped to a 22-11 lead midway through the first half.

Trailing 24-13, the Bullets rallied to take the lead thanks to a 14-2 run keyed by Eiden and Elizabeth Ross (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew’s [DE]).

Eiden drilled the first of her 3-pointers to open the burst before Ross hit back-to-back layups. Eiden followed with another triple and Jen Bengel (Timonium, MD/Roland Park Country School) hit a turnaround jumper to briefly put Gettysburg ahead 27-26 with 3:53 left in the half.

Muhlenberg needed exactly 27 seconds to go back on top for good. Stephanie Coluccini connected on a layup on the Mules’ next trip, sparking an 11-2 run that made it 37-29 in the final minute.

Kathryn Reilly (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) hit a put-back at the buzzer to pull the Bullets within six at the break. Two 3-pointers from Falk in the first 2:25 of the second half kept the visitors within 42-37, but Kirk started a 7-0 run with a layup and Muhlenberg led by double digits for much of the game’s final 14 minutes.

Gwen Doyle also hit double figures for the Mules, knocking down 4 of 8 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.

Ross and Reilly tallied 13 points apiece in the losing effort. Ross finished the night with 970 career points, moving into 10th place on Gettysburg’s all-time career scoring list.

Jamie Marshall (Pottsville, PA/Nativity B.V.M.) handed out a career-high nine assists for the Bullets, who haven’t won at Muhlenberg’s Memorial Hall since the 1994-95 season.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at Washington (Md.). Game time is 2 p.m.
