Harriman, Pryor lead Gettysburg over Muhlenberg, 13-7

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Brian Pryor (Dallas, TX/St. Mark’s) collected a game-high six points, Jared Harriman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) scored a career-best four goals and ninth-ranked Gettysburg defeated Muhlenberg 13-7 in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s lacrosse action on Wednesday.

 Pryor dished out three goals and handed out three assists, scoring twice in the Bullets’ six-goal first quarter, then completing the hat trick after the Mules (5-2, 0-1 CC) had pulled within 7-6 early in the third quarter.

 Harriman sealed the victory with four straight goals in an 18-minute span of the second half, helping Gettysburg (5-2, 2-0 CC) improve to 8-0 all-time against Muhlenberg.

 Evan Gallant (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Kevin Freehill (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) each scored twice for the Bullets while Pat Vaughan (Cockeysville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) recorded 11 saves.

 Kyle Farris paced the Mules with three goals while Sean Toohill added two goals and one assist.

 Gettysburg never trailed after erasing an early 2-1 deficit with a five-goal outburst, but needed a 6-0 second-half run to put the Mules away.

 Muhlenberg took its only lead of the night on goals from Kyle Hart and Farris in a span of 42 seconds. Freehill followed 1 minute, 11 seconds later to knot the game at 2 and Gallant cashed in an extra-man opportunity to put the Bullets ahead 3-2 with fewer than five minutes elapsed in the game.

 Pryor struck twice to make it 5-2 and Chris Renzi (Fairport, NY/Fairport) added a goal with 12 seconds left in the quarter for a four-goal lead.

 Unfazed, the Mules got two goals from Farris and one from Toohill to pull within 6-5. Freehill restored Gettysburg’s two-goal edge by scoring unassisted with 1:48 left in the half.

 Toohill opened the third quarter with a goal to cut the Bullets’ lead to 7-6, but Muhlenberg wouldn’t score again until the game’s final minute. In the interim, Gettysburg rattled off six straight goals to clinch the win.

 Pryor finished his hat trick to make it 8-6 and Gallant followed off a feed from Harriman 37 seconds later. Harriman then netted the game’s next four goals, tallying two unassisted markers and two off assists from Pryor for a 13-6 lead.

 The Mules’ James Robinson closed the scoring with 44 seconds left.

 Muhlenberg goalie Gavin Crescenzo made 15 saves while facing 40 Bullet shots.

 T.J Liberto (Arnold, MD/St. Mary’s) also scored for Gettysburg while Renzi won 13 of 21 face-offs and scooped a game-high nine ground balls. Pryor, who has 14 goals and 11 assists in his last five games, assumed the team lead for goals (15), assists (13) and points (28).

 The Bullets return to action on Saturday at top-ranked Salisbury. Game time is 1 p.m.
