Game two box score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Molly Gale (Franklin, MI/Wylie E. Groves) and Megan Gorsuch (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) went a combined 5-for-6 to help Gettysburg claim the game two win in a split with Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Tuesday.

The Bullets (15-4-1, 3-1 CC) dropped the opener 7-6, snapping an 11-game winning streak over the Red Devils (8-14, 4-2), but claimed the night cap 10-2.

Sara Gutermuth (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) led Gettysburg at the plate in game one, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Gale went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Gorsuch was a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs in the nightcap victory.

Jackie Pareso (Washington, PA/Canevin Catholic) tallied her fifth win this season, allowing one earned run on six hits and striking out one in the opener while Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) picked up her first loss of the season.

The Bullets laid claim on game two from the first pitch.

Pareso led off by reaching on a Red Devil error and then advanced to second on a Megan Pilarcik (Middletown, MD/Middletown) sacrifice bunt. An RBI-single off the bat of Gale plated Pareso. A Gutermuth single and another error by the defense loaded the bases, putting Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) at first.

Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation) nailed a double out to left center field, scoring Gutermuth and Gale and closing the first with a 3-0 advantage.

After two scoreless innings, Gettysburg tallied another three-run at bat in the fourth off of hits from Abbe Miller (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts), Gorsuch and Gale.

The Bullets scored scored all the runs they would need in the fifth inning to end the game due to the mercy rule.

With runners at first and second after Miller and Megan Dean (Olney, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) walked, Gorsuch ripped a base hit out to left center field to drive in her third RBI. Pareso then nailed a two-RBI double to left center – scoring Dean and Gorsuch – before Pilarcik hit a double of her own to send Pareso home.

Gettysburg acquired its only lead going into the bottom of the fifth in game two after scoring five runs in two innings.

The Bullets tallied 21 hits on the day while Dickinson had 16, including 10 in game one.

Gettysburg returns to action with a doubleheader on Tuesday at Dickinson. The first game begins at 5 p.m.
