Box Score
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Evan
Gallant (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) scored a game-high three goals
and Pat Vaughan (Cockeysville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) made 13 saves
to lead sixth-ranked Gettysburg over Ursinus 8-3 in Centennial Conference (CC)
men’s lacrosse action on Friday. Gallant
finished two feeds from Brian Pryor (Dallas, TX/St. Mark’s) and
converted a half-field solo run, posting his second hat trick of the season. Pryor
bounced back from his first pointless game of the season on Wednesday with two
goals and two assists, increasing his team-leading point total to 38.
Chase Stewart (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown)
added a goal and an assist to help the Bullets (8-3, 5-0 CC) improve to 6-0 at
home this season.

Tori, Carlo Fusco and Dane Mangin scored goals
for the Bears (2-8, 0-5 CC), who fell to 0-3 all-time against Gettysburg. Matt
Orlando made 10 saves on the night.
Playing
under the lights and between the temporary lines of Clark Field, the Bullets made
the most of the program’s impromptu, first-ever home night game.
After the teams battled through nearly 12 scoreless minutes,
Stewart set up Pryor for a 1-0 Gettysburg lead. Vaughan was masterful early on,
turning aside Ursinus’ first six shots before Tori struck from close range with
one second left in the opening quarter, his team-leading 13th goal of the season.
Gallant made sure the tie didn’t last, scoring his first
goal of the game just 49 seconds into the second quarter to put the Bullet ahead
to stay. Pryor scored off an assist from Chris Renzi (Fairport, NY/Fairport)
21 seconds later and Stewart followed with an unassisted tally to make it 4-1
with 10:48 left in the half.
With
time running out in the quarter, T.J. Liberto (Arnold, MD/St. Mary’s)
matched Tori’s feat by scoring his fifth goal of the season with 0:01 showing
on the clock, pushing the Gettysburg lead to 5-2 at halftime.
Gallant and Andrew Mavraganis (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield)
book-ended the Bears’ scoreless third quarter with unassisted goals to make it
7-2. Gallant converted an extra-man goal with 13:32 remaining to complete his
hat trick.
Fusco set the final
margin by scoring with 1:36 remaining, breaking an Ursinus scoring drought that
spanned 32 minutes, 37 seconds.
Renzi
won 8 of 11 face-offs and picked up a team-high eight ground balls, helping the
Bullets to a 36-22 advantage in that category.
Tori
and Mangin fired a team-high six shots apiece for the Bears.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday at McDaniel.
