Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Jenn Kelly (Westbury, NY/Carle Place) and Katie Lowe (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) combined for 12 points, leading seventh-ranked Gettysburg past Dickinson 14-9 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Kelly racked up a career-high six points, posting her first hat trick of the season to go along with a career-best three assists. Lowe netted four goals and dished out two assists as the Bullets (8-2, 4-1 CC) snapped the Red Devils’ program-record, seven-game winning streak.

Katie Ceglarski (Darien, CT/Darien), Jamie Giffuni (St. James, NY/Smithtown) and Ellie Shihadeh (Malvern, PA/Conestoga) added two goals apiece for Gettysburg, which broke open a 7-7 second-half tie to claim its 13th win in the last 14 meetings with Dickinson (7-2, 3-1 CC).

Caitlin Blair and Lesley Oot paced the Red Devils with two goals and one assist apiece.

Deadlocked at halftime, the teams remained tied through the opening minutes of the second half before the Bullets broke open the game with a 6-1 run.

Kate Murphy (Wilton, CT/Wilton) started the go-ahead play with one of her game-high five caused turnovers, leading to a successful clearing attempt. On the ensuing rush, Lowe found Giffuni in transition and the freshman scored to make it 8-7 with 24:19 remaining.

Dickinson goalie Gabby Joffie, the reigning CC Player of the Week, made three saves to keep the visitors within a goal before Kelly converted a free-position attempt with 20:49 left. On the next possession, Ceglarski scored off a pass from Shihadeh to make it 10-7.

Katie Austin pulled the Red Devils within two on Dickinson’s next trip into Bullet territory, but Kelly made sure that Gettysburg would stay on top the rest of the way.

Starting with an assist on Ceglarski’s second goal of the day, Kelly had a hand in three goals over a span of 1 minute, 32 seconds, stretching the Bullet advantage to 13-8. She also set up Lowe with 16:16 left and scored directly off of Ceglarski’s draw control win nine seconds later.

Gettysburg’s defense, which forced 14 of Dickinson’s 26 turnovers, held the Red Devils without a goal until Lizzie Cone cashed in a free-position attempt with 1:36 remaining.

With Dickinson outshooting the Bullets 18-16, the first half was wide open and dead even.

Tara Goss gave the Red Devils their only lead of the day, scoring 3 minutes, 41 seconds into the game.

Goals from Lowe, Shihadeh and Kelly in a span of 61 seconds gave Gettysburg a 3-1 lead. Lowe struck two more times before halftime to give her team leads of 4-2 and 6-4. Oot and Williams found the net late in the half to knot the game at 6.

Katie Hagan (Media, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) and Blair traded goals in the first four minutes of the second half before the Bullets took charge.

In addition to her three-point day, Ceglarski also won a career-high seven draw controls. Laine Tunnell (Maynard, MA/Middlesex School) picked up a game-high five ground balls and also recorded her first collegiate point with an assist on Shihadeh’s goal with one second left.

Laura Williams added two goals for Dickinson while Goss finished with a goal and two assists.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at Bryn Mawr. Game time is 12 p.m.
