GETTYSBURG, Pa.Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of the first game and ended up with a two-hit shutout to lead Gettysburg to a win in the first half of doubleheader with Lebanon Valley in non-conference softball action on Tuesday.

Kiry struck out seven in her fourth shutout of the season, propelling the Bullets (10-3-1) to a 4-0 victory in the opener.

In the nightcap, Jenn Roberts struck out 11 and the Flying Dutchmen (11-3) plated five runs in the sixth inning for the split, 7-2.

Margaret Hallahan (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon) went 3-for-3 in game one with two RBIs to lead the Gettysburg offense in the opener.

Amy Batz was 3-for-4 with an RBI in game two to pace Lebanon Valley to just its third win in the series since 1991.

In the home fourth of game one, Sara Gutermuth (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) laced a one-out double to the corner in left field.

After an infield popout, Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation) reached on an error to put runners at the corners with two down before stealing second.

An Abbe Miller (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) walk loaded the bases before Hallahan went up the middle to score Gutermuth and Eiden to score for a 2-0 advantage.

Molly Gale (Franklin, MI/Wylie E. Groves) went down the left-field line to lead off the Bullet sixth before a Gutermuth sacrifice bunt moved her up a base.

Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidsaysburg), who entered the day riding an 11-game hit streak, recorded her lone hit of the twinbill – a single right in front of the plate – to put runners at first and third with one out.

After Sagaities moved up on an indifference play, Eiden notched her lone RBI of the opener with a ground out that scored Gale.

Miller followed with a single up the middle to plate Sagaities from third and give Gettysburg the 4-0 lead.

Having retired 18 of the first 20 batters she had faced, Kiry went back to work in the seventh, but gave up a Batz bloop single in left-center to lead off the frame and breakup the no-hitter.

Melissa Ulrich also reached on a one-out single down the left-field line, but Kiry got her seventh strikeout and a lineout to end the game.

In the nightcap, Jessica Salisbury drew a two-out walk in the top of the fourth and Lauren Sanford reached on an error to put two on with two out.

Salisbury gave way to pinch-runner Amy Weist at second, and Gina Battistelli cleared the bases with a triple to the wall in left field and stake the Flying Dutchmen to a 2-0 lead.

Roberts took a perfect game through the first 4 2/3 innings, recording seven strikeouts, before Eiden broke it up with a double to the gap in left-center.

A wild pitch moved Eiden over to third, but Roberts came back with her eighth strikeout of the contest to get out of trouble.

Three singles and an error started a five-run sixth inning for Lebanon Valley.

Salisbury led off the frame with a single up the middle and Sanford reached on a sacrifice attempt.

An infield single by Battistelli loaded the bases before Salisbury came down the line to score on a wild pitch.

Audrey Benner reached on a bunt single to plate Sanford before Lisa DiCristofaro made it to first on a fielder's choice that allowed Battistelli to score.

The Bullets' second error of the inning put runners at second and third with no outs.

Batz her lone RBI of the day with a groundout before Jenn Parks doubled home DiCristofaro to give the Flying Dutchmen a 7-0 lead.

Gale started the Bullets' attempt at a comeback with a double to center and Gutermuth followed with an infield single.

Gale scored on the second wild pitch of the game for Roberts, and Eiden reached on a one-out error to plate Gutermuth and pull Gettysburg within 7-2.

A fielder's choice and a popup got Roberts out of any further trouble and preserved the win.

Battistelli went 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs for Lebanon Valley in the nightcap.

Meghan Howlett (Millsboro, DE/Milford) struck out two to fall to 2-1 on the season.

Gettysburg returns to action with a doubleheader on Wednesday at Messiah. The first game begins at 3 p.m.
