On the women’s side, the Bullets’ top four finishers improved on their season-opening 5K times as Gettysburg placed eighth out of 14 teams. Anna Markowitz (Macungie, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) was the first Bullet across the line, finishing 41st in a time of 21:09.

 With a showing that bettered his time of 27:30 at last year’s Mid-East Regional meet, Carmer led a trio of top-20 finishers. Freshman Frank Hoban (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) placed 16th with a time of 28:07 in his first collegiate 8K while Eric Dunklee (Barton, VT/St. Johnsbury Acad.) was only seven seconds behind in 19th place.

 Kevin Lawrence (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) (42nd, 29:27) and Chris Magette (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) (60th, 30:36) rounded out Gettysburg’s top five.

 After Markowitz, Barb Creveling (Easton, PA/Easton) knocked 12 seconds off her Sept. 2 time of 21:22, finishing the women’s race 43rd overall. Becca Zabel (Frederick, MD/Urbana) placed 51st (21:31) and Brett Jackson (Arnold, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was 55th (21:35). Rachel Guthridge (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) was the fifth Bullet to finish.

 Salisbury’s men and Dickinson’s women won their respective races, which were run at the site of this year’s Centennial Conference championship meet, scheduled for Oct. 29.

 Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday against Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall at the annual Little 3 Meet hosted this year by the Red Devils. The women’s race starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 5:30 p.m.
