GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Chris
Bayon (Langhorne, PA/Lawrenceville School [NJ]) scored the first two goals
of his collegiate career to lead Gettysburg over Moravian, 3-0.
Bayon volleyed a bouncing free ball just inside of the penalty box into
the top right corner only two minutes and 41 seconds into the game to give the
Bullets an early lead.
Gettysburg’s second goal
did not come until the second half when Pete Kareha (Allentown, PA/William
Allen) was tripped inside the box as he was dribbling hard to the cage.
Garret Bruno (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) took the penalty
kick for the Bullets, beating the goalie with a low drive to the left side of
the goal.
Bayon got back on the board 81 minutes
and 20 seconds into the game off of a feed from Matt Varner (Medford, NJ/Shawnee).
Varner sent a long ball from the defensive half and Bayon outran two Moravian
defenders before beating the onrushing goalie with a low shot to the right side.
The Gettysburg defense, led by Ryan Franks
(Medford, NJ/Sewanee), Brendan Foerster (Manchester Court, VT/Burr
& Burton Academy) and Ross Witte (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus)
held the Moravian offense to seven shots and did not relinquish a corner kick
all night.
In the goal for the Bullets, Nick
Wells-Bundtzen (Williamstown, MA/Mt. Greylock) made five saves en route
to recording his second shutout of the season.
For
Moravian, goalie Ryan Walker recorded six saves, and the Greyhounds'
leading scorer Louis Dollarton took four shots.
Gettysburg
returns to action on Saturday at Haverford. Game time is 2 p.m.
