WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic notched a goal
in each half and stifled the Gettysburg attack to outlast the Bullets 2-0 in non-conference
action on Wednesday. The Cardinals (4-1) collected
their first goal of the day when Jayme Dinsmore scored off a rebound
with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half.
Catholic’s
insurance goal would also come off a rebound courtesy of Michele Repass,
who made it 2-0 with 20:48 remaining.
The Cardinals’
defense held the Gettysburg attack to seven shots in the contest. Goalie Irene
Jorden made five saves to preserve the shutout.
For
the Bullets, Katherine Corkhill (Paoli, PA/Academy of Notre Dame)
finished with six saves. Meg Goddu (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville)
led Gettysburg (3-2) with three shots, while Bridget Seidel (Mohnton, PA/Governor
Mifflin) added two more.
Gettysburg returns
to action on Saturday at home against Bridgewater. Game time is 1 p.m.
