PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Gettysburg lost a five-game match to RIT in its opener at the Carnegie Mellon Crossover, and fell to host Carnegie Mellon 3-1 in their second matchup on Friday night.

Gettysburg dropped a tight match to RIT in the final game by two points, 15-13. Erica Rau (Oakland Park, FL/Pine Crest) recorded 15, Katie Heffner (Easton PA/Easton) had 14, Hillary Prutzman (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) tallied 12 and Lauren Thul (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) also reached double digits with 10.

Senior Shannan Smith (Milmont Park, PA/Ridley) had 51 sets, eight service aces and 18 digs and libero Steph Vial (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) had 29 digs and three service aces in the first match. Rau and Prutzman had five blocks each.

 In the Bullets' second matchup of the night, tournament host Carnegie Mellon took three of four games. Heffner led Gettysburg with 15 kills while Thul had 14. Vial had 14 digs and Thul recorded 17. Rau led the Bullets with two blocks.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Crossover. The Bullets face Nazareth at 10 a.m. and Ithaca at 2 p.m.
