Katie Myers two early goals pace Gettysburg over Bryn Mawr, 8-0

Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Kristin Igusky (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name) scored two minutes and 43 seconds into the game, and Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) netted the next two goals for Gettysburg en route to an 8-0 win over Bryn Mawr on Friday night.

Igusky took the Bullets' first of five corners in the contest, only to have the ball knocked back out in her direction. She struck a shot from the side of the box that sailed over the goalie's head, hit the bottom of the crossbar and went in.

Myers' first tally came off a corner taken by Igusky. The ball bounced once inside the box before Myers got a head on it for the score.

Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Academy) ran down a ball played into the Owl's defensive half and passed it across the face of the cage for a wide open shot that Myers buried for her second goal.

The Bullets would score twice more before halftime. Steph Smith (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) scored on a shot from the 18, and Colleen Stuart (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) scored on a shot that was saved before ricocheting off a player and into the net.

In the second half, Casey Norman (Underhill, VT/Mt. Mansfield Union) and Caitlin McCarthy (Darnestown, MD/Holy Child) each recorded their first collegiate goals. Ferraro also collected a goal on a penalty kick.

For Bryn Mawr, Collette Pullion and Allie Blackwood combined for seven saves.

Gettysburg returns to action Wednesday against McDaniel. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
