Whelan, Fromm lead Gettysburg past Dickinson, 76-59

CARLISLE, Pa. – Matt Whelan (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) and Erik Fromm (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) combined for 42 points to lead Gettysburg past Dickinson 76-59 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday.
 
Whelan scored a game-high 22 points while Fromm recorded a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. Fromm has scored in double-figures in seven consecutive games.

 The Bullets (8-8, 4-5 CC) used a 39-26 rebounding advantage to help them upend the Red Devils (4-12, 2-7 CC).

 Dickinson jumped out to an early 15-6 lead on a 3-pointer by Brad Litchfield with 14:32 remaining in the first half. The nine point lead would be the Red Devil's largest of the game.
 
Gettysburg proceeded to start a 33-9 run to end the first frame. Fromm started the run by banking in a shot from the post.

Kyle McGlensey (West Chester, PA/West) hit a layup with 10:45, giving the Bullets their first lead in the game at 19-18. Gettysburg did not trail the rest of the game.

Whelan scored nine of his 11 first half points during the run, capping the half with two made free throws with :13 remaining. The Bullets took a 39-24 lead into the locker room.
 
To open the second half, Dickinson quickly cut the Bullets' lead to nine points when Matt Keys hit a jumper with 16:23 to go.
 
Gettysburg was able to push their lead back to 14 when Whelan hit two 3-pointers in the span of 31 seconds, making the score 49-35 with 13:20 remaining.
 
Keys tried to cut into the lead, by scoring 12 of his 14 points in the second half, but the Bullets were able to hold onto the lead.
 
Fromm scored seven points down the stretch to help Gettysburg preserve its eighth win of the season.
 
Mike Spadafora (Richboro, PA/Archbishop Wood) tied his career high with 11 rebounds on the night. McGlensey ended with a season-high 11 points.
 
Litchfield was Dickinson's leading scorer with 15 points.

The Bullets return to action on Saturday at home against McDaniel. Game time is 2 p.m.
