Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. –  Brian Sateja (Morristown, NJ/Delbarton School) led all scorers with a career-high 18 points as Gettysburg defeated McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday, 62-50.

After trailing by two at the end of the first half, the Bullets hit five three-pointers in the first six minutes and 10 seconds of the second half to build a nine point lead, 41-32, with 13:50 on the clock. Matt Whelan's (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) three treys and one each from Todd Brady (Hancock, NH/ConVal) and Mike Spadafora (Richboro, PA/Archbishop Wood) accounted for five of Gettysburg's first six baskets from the field to open the second period.

A Whelan free throw stretched the Bullet advantage by one more before McDaniel managed to bring the game back to within eight points on a layup from Chad Arrington.

Kyle McGlensey (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) was fouled trying to put back an offensive rebound on the Bullets' ensuing possession. McGlensey hit both free throws to give Gettysburg its first double-digit lead.

Back-to-back layups from Dan Capkin (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) and McGlensey gave the Bullets their largest advantage of the game, 48-34, with 10 minutes and 59 seconds to play.

The Green Terror managed to reduce the game to nine on a free throw from Mike Dipiero at the 8:36 mark, but a Brady layup 50 seconds later put Gettysburg back up by 11. The Bullets managed to maintain the double-digit advantage for the remainder of the game.

Behind Sateja's 18 points, Whelan added 13 and a career-high seven rebounds to lead the team. Defensively for the Bullets, Joe Spierenburg (Chambersburg, PA/St. Maria Goretti[MD]) had three blocks and Julius Redd (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) chipped in two blocks to go along with a game-high three steals.
