GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Kathryn Reilly (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) led all players in points (18) and rebounds (10) as Gettysburg topped Washington College in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.
The Bullets opened the game taking a 2-0 lead on the game's first possession, but Washington answered back with a three pointer from Irene Pastorino 22 seconds later to put the Shorewomen up by two.
Following Patorino's three, both teams went scoreless over the next two minutes and 50 seconds before a Jamie Marshall (Pottsville, PA/Nativity B.V.M.) three pointer gave Gettysburg a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) was fouled as she hit a jumper the Bullets' next time down the floor. She completed the three-point play at the foul line, stretching the Gettysburg lead to five.
Washington managed to claw back to make it a two-point game three times in the first half, the last coming on a Brenda Lucas basket with exactly 7 minutes left in the stanza to make it 19-17.
By halftime, the Bullets had stretched their lead to 14. Gettysburg managed to maintain the comfort of a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
Reilly posted a game-high four steals to go along with her 18 points and 10 rebounds. Marshall had 16, giving her 36 points in her last two outings. Eiden and Margaret White (Burke, VA/James W. Robinson) contributed 11 points each. White hit three-of-three from three point land. Jennifer Bengel (Timonium, MD/Roland Park Country School) led the Bullets with four assists.
Pastorino led the Shorewomen in scoring with 11 points, including three treys. Brianne Slizofski and Elise Conway chipped in ten points apiece. Conway also dished out a game-high six assists. Kaitlyn Roth led Washington on the glass with seven boards.
Gettysburg returns to action on Tuesday at Bryn Mawr. Game time is 7 p.m.
