Bullets win fifth straight, defeat Franklin & Marshall 78-70

LANCASTER, Pa. – Mike Spadafora (Richboro, PA/Archbishop Wood) scored 18 points to lead Gettysburg past Franklin & Marshall 78-70 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday.
 
In a game of teams moving in opposite directions, Gettysburg (12-8, 8-5 CC) won their fifth straight game, while the Diplomats (9-11, 4-9 CC) have lost eight of their last 10 games.
 
The Bullets shot well, making 64 percent of their shots from the field during the game. Spadafora led a balanced attack of four Bullets scoring in double-figures. Brian Sateja (Morristown, NJ/Delbarton School) scored 14 points, Erik Fromm (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) scored 13 points, and Todd Brady (Hancock, NH/ConVal) added 10 in the win.
 
In the first half, Spadafora scored 10 points while Sateja and Fromm each added six points to help the Bullets to a 37-30 lead at the end of the frame. Brandon Smith kept the Diplomats close by making 5-of-7 shots, including 4-of-4 from behind the 3-point arc for 15 first half points.
 
The Bullets used eight points apiece from Spadafora, Brady, and Sateja, plus seven from Fromm in the second half to maintain their halftime lead. Bryan Teschke scored 14 points and Smith added 13 in the second stanza to finish with a game-high 28 points, but the Bullets would prevail 78-70.
 
Teschke finished the game with 18 points.
 
Smith grabbed a game-high seven rebounds for the Diplomats while Julius Redd (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) had five boards to lead the Bullets.
 
The Bullets return to action on Saturday at Washington (Md.). Game time is 4 p.m.
