PALM BEACH, Fla. – Katie Hagan (Media, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) scored four goals and Jenn Kelly (Westbury, NY/Carle Place) added six points (two goals, four assists) as No. 5 Gettysburg defeated Denison 16-4 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Monday.
The Bullets (3-0) opened the season on a three-game winning streak for the fourth consecutive season while Denison (0-1) dropped their season opener.
Katie Ceglarski (Darien, CT/ Darien) and Jamie Giffuni (St. James, NY/Smithtown) each recorded hat tricks in the victory for Gettysburg. The Bullets' offense was strong as it scored on 16-of-34 shots.
Heather Kelley (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) played well in goal, making nine saves on 15 shots by the Big Red. The Bullet defense also caused 19 Denison turnovers with Ceglarski forcing four miscues and Laurie Goon (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) causing three.
Jill Carr led Denison's offense, scoring two goals on the day.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Palm Beach, Fla. Game time is 9 a.m.
