HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Gettysburg senior Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) threw her second consecutive shutout, and freshman Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) followed it with her second no-hitter in three starts to give Gettysburg back-to-back 5-0 wins over Juniata in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. Rubino also tied the Centennial Conference record and her own Gettysburg record with 14 strikeouts in a game shortened to six innings by darkness.
 
Sophomore catcher Abbe Miller (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) provided the offense for the Bullets, going 2-for-7 with six RBI and three runs scored. She smacked a grand slam in the first game and followed it up with a two-run shot that broke a scoreless tie in the third inning of game two.

The Bullets' pitching duo has combined to go 9-2 this season, allowing just 48 hits in 72 innings and striking out 89 against just 18 walks. Kiry and Rubino have a combined 1.00 earned run average and are holding opposing hitters to a miniscule .180 batting average.
 
Game one was a pitchers' duel the whole way, as Kiry matched zeroes for six innings with Juniata senior Jessica Darrow. The Bullets (9-2) broke out for five runs in the decisive seventh inning. Gettysburg junior right fielder Meg Gorsuch (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) reached on a fielder's choice that put her at first base with two outs before the Bullets began the game-winning rally. Senior left fielder Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) followed with a single, and freshman shortstop Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) drove in Gorsuch. After a walk to sophomore center fielder Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) loaded the bases, Miller cleared them with a grand slam.
 
The Eagles (6-12) managed a two-out single from sophomore pinch hitter Kaleigh Driscoll, but Kiry retired the next hitter to get the Bullets back in the win column and improve her personal record to 5-1. Darrow is now 0-2.
 
In the nightcap, Gettysburg spread out the scoring over two innings, but the result was much the same. Rubino mowed through the Juniata lineup, allowing only two base runners, both of whom reached on errors. She struck out the side four times in just six innings and did not walk a batter. She is now 4-1.
 
After putting runners on in each of the first two innings, Gettysburg finally broke through to get on the scoreboard in the top of the third. Sagaities, who was 4-for-6 with three runs scored on the afternoon, reached on a one-out single, and Miller followed with her second homerun of the day. The visitors would score three more times in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of freshman third baseman Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg), a bases-loaded walk to Gorsuch and an RBI single by Eiden.
 
With a comfortable lead, Rubino went back to the mound and recorded five of the last six outs on strikeouts to complete another gem.
 
Gettysburg will return to action on Tuesday when the team travels to Annville, Pa., to face Lebanon Valley in a non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
