Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – No. 1 Salisbury scored 10 second-half goals to break open a 3-3 game and earn a 13-7 win over No. 2 Gettysburg in non-conference action on Saturday at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. The three-time defending national champions have now won 60 consecutive games dating back to the 2003 season.

Salisbury (11-0) senior midfielder Jimmy Creighton led all scorers with five points on two goals and three assists, while Sea Gulls' senior attackman Dan Boyer and Gettysburg (7-1) junior midfielder Jared Harriman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) each netted hat tricks in the game.

The scoring was even at 3-3 after 30 minutes of play, despite Salisbury taking a 2-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Sea Gulls got the lead on an unassisted goal by junior attackman Matt Dasinger with just under four minutes gone. Senior midfielder Mike Hurley upped the lead just over three minutes later. Gettysburg countered with goals from senior Brian Pryor (Dallas, TX/St. Mark's) and Harriman in the last 3:37 of the quarter to tie it up.

The Bullets would take their only lead of the game with 14:15 to play before halftime. Harriman got the ball wide to the left of the goal and brought a defender with him across the front of the net about 10 yards out and fired a shot that found the back of the net. The home squad held the lead for the next eight-and-a-half minutes, but Boyer evened the score with 4:33 showing on the clock.

The Sea Gulls won the opening faceoff in the second half and held the ball in the Gettysburg end for 45 seconds before Creighton put his team up for good. With 12:42 to play in the third, sophomore midfielder Brett Yoder made it 5-3. Harriman responded with his third goal of the game a little more than a minute later.

Salisbury got its first extra-man opportunity of the game 30 seconds after Harriman's goal and converted on a strike from Hurley. The team scored twice more in the next two minutes, to go up 8-4, a score that would hold for over seven minutes.

Gettysburg seniors Evan Gallant (Lutherville, MD/Loyola-Blakefield) and Chris Renzi (Fairport, NY/Fairport) each scored in a 13-second span ending with 49 seconds to go in the third quarter to get the home team back in the game. Renzi was awarded possession on the faceoff after Gallant's goal because of a push by a Sea Gull. When the officials started the clock again, Renzi sprinted nearly uncontested up the middle of the field and scored to pull the Bullets within two goals at 8-6.

Gettysburg seemed to have the momentum, but a Dasinger goal with under three seconds to play in the third quarter reversed that. The Bullets would cut the deficit to three goals again with 10:23 to play, but Salisbury scored the last three goals of the game to set the final score.

Now finished with a season-long five-game home stand, the Bullets hit the road to take on Centennial Conference foe Washington (Md.) next Saturday. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. in Chestertown, Md.
