GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Jenn Kelly (Westbury, NY/Carle Place) recorded a career-high seven points on two goals and a career-high five assists to lead No. 3 Gettysburg past Bryn Mawr 20-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.
With the win, Gettysburg (13-0, 7-0 CC) set a program record for consecutive victories, breaking the mark of 12 games set by the 2000 squad. The Bullets also extended their program-record season-opening win streak to 13. Gettysburg has won all 13 meetings in the all-time series with Bryn Mawr (5-10, 0-6 CC).
Kelly has now tallied at least one point in 29 straight games, and she was one of nine Bullets to record two or more points in the win. Ellie Shihadeh (Malvern, PA/Conestoga) scored twice and added two assists, and Cristi Farrell (Broomall, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) netted her first hat trick of the season to lead Gettysburg's offense.
With 12:48 remaining in the first half, Gettysburg had already taken a 12-0 lead. Scoring two goals for the Bullets during the run were Kelly, Katie Hagan (Media, PA/Cardinal O'Hara), Katie Ceglarski (Darien, CT/Darien) and Jen Betts (Potomac, MD/Academy of the Holy Cross).
Georgia Lawrence scored Bryn Mawr's lone goal, an unassisted strike with 9:02 left in the first half. The Bullets proceeded to score two more goals to take a 14-1 lead at halftime. Shihadeh netted her second goal of the game, and Lizzie Wayne (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) scored her first collegiate goal.
The second half proved to be similar to the first half. Farrell scored the first two goals of the half and Jennie Howell (Huntington, NY/Huntington) followed with back-to-back strikes. The Bullets scored two additional goals, including the second tally by Jamie Giffuni (St. James, NY/Smithtown), before the final whistle set the game's outcome at 20-1.
Gettysburg held a 36-5 advantage in shots and a 32-22 advantage in groundballs. Kelly grabbed a game-high four groundballs, and Alexandra Ewing (Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest) scooped her 50th career groundball in the win. Jen Lam, Amy Johnson and Jessica Lee all led Bryn Mawr with a game-high four groundballs.
Gettysburg returns to action at home on Wednesday against McDaniel. Game time is 7 p.m.
