Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) went 3-for 5 with a two-run home run to lead Gettysburg to an 8-3 win in game one of a doubleheader with Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.

The Bullets improved their overall record to 19-8 and 3-3 in the CC on the day while Swarthmore's (17-12, 4-4 CC) 7-6 win in the nightcap was the Garnet's 17th of the season, a new program record. The win broke Swarhmore's 18-year old school record set by the 1988 squad who went 16-6.

After Swarthmore scored one run in the bottom of the first in game one, the Bullets came out swinging in the second. Megan Dean (Olney, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel), Meg Gorsuch (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) and Sagaities hit consecutive singles, and Abbe Miller (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) smacked a two-run double to help the Bullets to a 3-1 lead.

After two scoreless innings, both teams plated one run in the fifth inning. Following a scoreless sixth, the Bullets' batted through the lineup in the top of the seventh to score four runs. Dean and Gorsuch hit back-to-back RBI singles and Sagaities cleared the bases with a two-run home run.

The Garnet managed one run in the bottom of the frame, but Gettysburg prevailed 8-3. Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) pitched a complete game for her 11th win of the season.

In game two, Gettysburg jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth. Sagaities and Miller scored in the first, and Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) and pinch runner Ali Stoll (Swampscott, MA/Swampscott) crossed the plate in the fourth. Stoll ran for Tayler Cianciotta (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) who had smacked an RBI triple.

The Garnet rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth and another pair in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Kelly Siano and Marianne Klingaman each scored twice during the rally. Klingaman hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Swarthmore the lead.

After a scoreless sixth, Gettysburg tied the game 6-6 in the seventh. Miller and Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) crossed the plate on Eiden's game-tying two-run double.

In the bottom of the frame, three consecutive singles by Katie Gold, Siano and Klingaman loaded the bases for Kristin Caspar. Caspar delivered the game-winning run with a one-out single. Klingaman picked up the win pitching in relief of starter Emily Walz.

Sagaities led the Bullets offense by going 5-for-9 with four RBI on the day.
