GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Chris Bayon (Langhorne, Pa./Lawrenceville School [N.J.]) and Brad Tabor (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) each scored two goals and tallied an assist to lead Gettysburg to a 6-0 win over Penn State-Berks in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Clark Field.
Gettysburg improved its record to 6-1-0, and the Bullets' streak of stingy defense continued against Penn State-Berks (1-4-0). Gettysburg held the Nittany Lions to just one shot on goal. The Bullets have now given up just two shots on goal in their past three games.
Gettysburg outshot Penn State-Berks 33-4, with Tabor getting the Bullets on the scoreboard with the game's first shot. He scored 41 seconds into the game on a pass from Bill Mozet (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough). The assist was the first collegiate point for the sophomore back.
The Bullets scored four more times in the first half to take a 5-0 lead into halftime. Garrett Bruno (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) scored off a pass from Tabor at 21:35.
In the span of 10 minutes and 14 seconds, Bayon scored twice, and Jesse Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Christopher Dock) also found the back of the net. Bayon assisted Gemberling-Johnson's goal, with Gemberling-Johnson returning the favor on one of Bayon's goals. Bayon's second goal was scored at 42:20, and sophomore back Ross Witte (Emmaus, Pa./ Emmaus) recorded his first collegiate assist on the play.
The lone goal of the second half was scored by Tabor at 83:53. Junior back Bobby Moore (Harpswell, Maine/Hyde School) became the third Bullet on the day to record his first collegiate assist.
Earning the shutout was junior goalkeeper Matt Langston (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East). He made one save for the victory. The combination of Matthew Sterchak and Alex Jackson made nine saves for Penn State-Berks in the loss.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at home against Swarthmore. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
