Box Score

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman forward Nicole Dobranski (Albertson, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) recorded a career high in points for the second game in a row, scoring 12 in a 71-38 Gettysburg win against Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Thursday afternoon at Tarble Pavilion. Dobranski entered the game coming off of a 10-point night against Bryn Mawr on Tuesday.

The Bullets (9-5, 6-2 CC) got a game-high 15 points from freshman forward Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) and 10 points and five assists from junior guard Megan Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley). Senior captain Katie Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) chipped in with eight points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Garnet (4-9, 1-7) was paced by a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double by junior forward Karen Berk. Junior guard Laura Popovics added 11 points.

Gettysburg never trailed in the game, despite Swarthmore gaining the first possession. Reilly pulled down a defensive rebound, and Dobranski scored six of the game's first eight points to help the Bullets to an 8-0 lead at the 17:33 mark. The Garnet called a timeout and broke the run with a jumper by freshman guard Lisa Schumacher, but Gettysburg responded with a 10-2 run to go up by 14 points less than six minutes into the game.

The Bullets, who made more field goals in the first half than Swarthmore did in the entire game, stretched the lead to as many as 20 on a Hartman layup with 3:59 to play before halftime. Two of Berks' game-high nine made free throws drew the gap to 16 points, but Hartman nailed a jumper with 43 seconds showing on the clock to give Gettysburg a 39-21 halftime margin.

Gettysburg came roaring out of the locker room after the break as well, opening the second stanza on a 12-0 run over the first five minutes. The run was broken up by senior guard Jess Fuhr, who sank a pair from the line. Swarthmore would make 15-of-20 free throws in the game, while the Bullets were 3-of-6 on foul shots.

The visitors' biggest lead of the game was 34 points, when a Fields 3-pointer made it 60-26 with 10:30 to go in the second half. The Garnet pulled within 28 points twice, but Gettysburg closed the game on a 5-0 run, courtesy of a layup and a 3-pointer by junior guard Sam Pyzik (Westminster, Md./Mercy).

Gettysburg returns home to Bream Gymnasium on Saturday for a Centennial Conference game against Haverford on Saturday. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
