GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman forward Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) scored a game-high 16 points, and freshman guard Allie Drechsler (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) added 15 points to lead Gettysburg to a 61-48 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday night at Bream Gymnasium. With the win, the Bullets knocked Dickinson out of a first-place tie in conference play and moved into sole possession of third place in the CC standings.

Gettysburg's (11-5, 8-2 CC) defense held the Red Devils (12-3, 7-2 CC) to 26.3 percent shooting on the night. The Bullets also outrebounded Dickinson by a margin of 47-36. Freshman forward Nicole Dobranski (Albertson, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) led Gettysburg with 10 rebounds, and both Fields and junior guard Megan Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) grabbed eight boards. Ally Teatom led Dickinson with a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Dickinson opened the game by taking a 6-3 lead by the 14:57 mark. From that point on, Gettysburg closed the first half on a 27-11 run. A 3-pointer by Drechsler at 12:37 gave the Bullets an 8-6 lead. Gettysburg did not trail the rest of the game. The Bullets held a lead of as many as 17 points in the first half with Fields and Drechsler each scoring 10 points before the halftime whistle.

Laura Houseal, who tallied 14 points on the night, led Dickinson's second-half comeback. She scored six consecutive points in the span of two minutes to cut the Bullets' lead to 34-27 at 15:32. However, Gettysburg would begin to pull away from the Red Devils by going on a 7-2 run. Senior forward Katie Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) hit a jumper for two of her eight points on the night, and Fields hit back-to-back shots, a jumper and a 3-pointer, to give Gettysburg a 41-29 advantage at 10:55.

Dickinson chipped away at the lead and pulled within six points with 4:00 remaining, 50-44, on a jumper by Houseal. The Red Devils even held Gettysburg without a field goal in the final 5:55 of the game. However, the Bullets were hot from the charity stripe and made 13 foul shots down the stretch to pull away for the 61-48 victory.

The Bullets will return to action on Saturday at McDaniel for a Centennial Conference matchup. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
