WESTMINSTER, Md. – Sophomore guard
Dan Capkin (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion) scored a career-high 27 points for the Bullets, but Ryan Brandenburg's 23 points led McDaniel to a 71-65 victory over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Gill Center.
Brett Foelber tallied a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Green Terror (8-6, 5-3 CC), who swept the season series from the Bullets (6-10, 4-6 CC) for the first time since 1996-97. Sophomore forward
Joe Spierenburg (Chambersburg, Pa./St. Maria Goretti [Md.]) scored 14 points and recorded team-highs of five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots in the loss.
Behind four points from Capkin, Gettysburg built a 10-3 lead over the first 8:01 of the game. Brandenburg cut the lead to four points with a 3-pointer, but Capkin responded with a pair of treys to push the lead to 16-6 with 8:22 left in the half.
An 11-4 run sparked by a layup from Chad Arrington pulled the hosts within three with 3:50 to play. Sophomore guard
Corey Dorsey (Frederick, Md./St. John at Prospect Hall) pushed the lead back to 22-17, but four points from Josh McKay and a Jemar Daniel free throw knotted the game at 22.

Renato Tambellini (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds to play in the first half to give the Bullets a three-point halftime edge.
In a second half marked by seven ties and seven lead changes, Foelber hit a layup to give McDaniel the lead for good with 7:12 to play, breaking a 53-53 tie.
A Capkin basket-and-foul pulled the Bullets within one, 59-58, at the 5:14 mark. However, Brandenburg drained his fifth 3-pointer of the game, and Ryan Finch hit a jumper to quickly push the lead to six.
With less than a minute remaining, Gettysburg went on a run with back-to-back layups by Tambellini and Spierenburg drawing the Bullets within two points, 67-65, with 36 seconds remaining.
The Green Terror hit 4-of-6 free throws over the final 35 seconds to set the game's final margin.
Senior forward
Julius Redd (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) tied for the team-lead with five rebounds, and Dorsey finished with eight points and four boards in the loss. Daniel added 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots for McDaniel.
Gettysburg will return to action on Wednesday when the Bullets travel to Baltimore, Md., for a Centennial Conference match with Johns Hopkins. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m.
