CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior center
Brian Sateja (Morristown, N.J./Delbarton School) tallied a career-highs of 20 points and four blocks to lead Gettysburg to a 70-55 win over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday night at Cain Athletic Center. Taking control of the game early, the hot-handed Bullets, who shot 53.7 percent from the floor in the game, did not trail after the 18:08 mark in the first half en route to their first conference win of the season.

Dan Capkin (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion), the team's leading scorer, tallied double-digits for the ninth-consecutive game with 19 points. Sophomore forward
Joe Spierenburg (Chambersburg, Pa./St. Maria Goretti [Md.]) added 10 points, while senior forward
Julius Redd (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for the Bullets (3-9, 1-5 CC). Tim Kohlrus led the Shoremen (2-10, 1-5 CC) with a double-double, 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Both teams traded baskets to open the game before Capkin drilled a 3-pointer at 18:08 in the first half to give Gettysburg a 5-2 lead. The hot-shooting Bullets, who made 57.1 percent of their attempts in the first half, did not trail the rest of the game. Gettysburg proceeded to make their next five shots to take a 15-4 lead at 14:25.
Sateja, who made 10-of-14 shots in the game, increased the Bullets' lead to 14 points, 28-14, with 5:04 left when he converted a layup. Washington stormed back by scoring six consecutive points, but Gettysburg closed the half on a 7-2 run to take a 35-22 lead to the locker room.
The Bullets maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half while continuing to shoot 50 percent from the floor. Thirteen seconds into the frame, Capkin, who hit 7-of-10 shots on the night, sank his second trey of the game to give Gettysburg its biggest lead of the game 38-22. Sateja increased the lead the next trip down the floor with another basket in the paint.
Both teams would trade several baskets before Washington made a run to cut the score to 44-34 on a layup by Joey Breslin, who tallied 14 points for the Shoremen. However, the Bullets would pull away again on a layup by sophomore guard
Corey Dorsey (Frederick, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) and a 3-point play by Capkin.
Spierenburg scored five points and the Bullets made six foul shots down the stretch to cruise to a 70-55 victory.
Gettysburg returns to action on Thursday at Swarthmore for a Centennial Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
