Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Eleven Gettysburg players scored at least two points, including junior guard Sam Pyzik (Westminster, Md./Mercy), who netted a game- and career-high 13, to give the Bullets a 75-39 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday night at Bream Gymnasium. Freshman forward Nicole Dobranski (Albertson, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) also had a career-high with 10 points.

Gettysburg (8-5, 5-2 CC) also got a double-digit effort from sophomore guard Margaret White (Burke, Va./James W. Robinson), who had 10 points. As a team, the Bullets shot 42.6 percent (29-for-68) from the field, including 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) from behind the arc.

The Owls (2-9, 0-6 CC) were led by senior guard Amy Johnson, who poured in 12 points, and freshman forward Shanika Bridges-King, who grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Bullets never trailed in the game. Both teams were cold from the floor in the early going, but Dobranski hit a fast-break layup at the 17:57 mark to open the scoring. A Dobranski jumper two-and-a-half minutes later would give the home squad a 6-2 lead. Two free throws by Johnson cut the lead to 6-4, but Gettysburg went on a 19-3 run over the next 11 minutes to take a commanding 25-7 lead. The Bullets would close the half with a 35-12 lead, after making 14 field goals to just three by the Owls.

The second half was an entirely different game as Bryn Mawr shot 45 percent (9-for-20) from the field, while the Bullets knocked down 15-of-29 field goal attempts (51.7 percent). Gettysburg also put on a 3-point shooting clinic after the intermission, draining 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) from long range. Pyzik, White, junior guard Megan Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and sophomore forward Emily Harwood (Rockville, Md./Magruder) each made two treys on the night.

The Owls cut the deficit to as few as 18 on a jumper by Bridges-King with 11:46 to play. Gettysburg responded by scoring the next 11 points and pushing the lead to 29 at 63-34. Six different Bullets had at least one point during the run, helping to assure that every player who hit the court scored.

The Bullets will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Swarthmore for a 2 p.m. Centennial Conference matchup against the Garnet.
