YORK, Pa. – Senior goalie Danielle St. Pierre (Londonberry, N.H./Trinity) saved eight shots and recorded her fourth shutout of the season as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team tied host York (Pa.) College 0-0 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match.
Gettysburg earned its first tie of the season and is now 3-9-1 on the year. York saw its record move to 8-4-2.
St. Pierre logged five of her saves in the first half, when the Spartans out-shot Gettysburg 8-2. She made three of those stops over a 1:18 span during the 13th and 14th minutes.
York held a 12-4 advantage in shots in the second stanza, but only three were on goal. Three of the Bullets' attempts were on target, but they were all saved by Spartan keeper Meagan Cahill.
Neither side managed a shot on goal in the first 10-minute overtime. In the second bonus session, St. Pierre made a save in the 105th minute, while Cahill stopped a Kelly Burke (Greenwood Village, Colo./St. Mary's Academy) shot in the 109th minute.
York finished with a 23-7 surplus in shots and a 6-4 edge in corners. Cahill finished with five saves.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule on Saturday, when it hosts Washington College at 1 p.m. in a Centennial Conference match during Homecoming Weekend.
