WASHINGTON, D.C. – The rematch between Gettysburg College and Gallaudet University went in favor of the hosts as the Bison sent the Bullets packing with a 3-1 (20-30, 30-28, 30-28, 34-32) non-conference decision on Friday evening. Gettysburg dropped to 15-12 this season, while Gallaudet improved to 21-9.
The Bullets had relatively little trouble with the Bison at the Battlefield Classic on Sept. 8, taking three games 30-17, 30-28, and 30-16. Gallaudet was ready the second time around however, bouncing back from an opening loss to win three tightly contested games.
Freshman
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and sophomore
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) led the Gettysburg attack with 12 and 13 kills, respectively, while each adding five block assists. Yoder also contributed seven digs and one service ace.
Sophomore
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) came up with 43 assists to pace the offense, adding four kills and one ace. Classmate
Molly Barrett (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) notched nine kills and was a force to be reckoned with defensively, totaling career highs with eight blocks and 20 digs.
Gettysburg resumes Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 with a key match against Dickinson College. Opening tap is slated for 7 p.m. in Bream Gym.
