Nina Emala (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) scored twice and junior
Savannah Ruth (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) and sophomore
Lauren Woodman (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) each added a goal and an assist as the Gettysburg College field hockey team set Swarthmore College packing with a 6-0 Centennial Conference loss at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The victory improves the Bullets record to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play and puts the team in a three-way tie for third with Franklin & Marshall College (10-5, 6-3 CC) and Muhlenberg College (11-5, 6-2 CC) in the Centennial standings. Gettysburg owns the tiebreaker with the Diplomats via a 5-1 victory on Sept. 26 and will face the Mules on the last day of the regular season, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in Allentown, Pa.
Saturday's game was never in doubt as the Bullets picked up a pair of scores in the opening two minutes. Senior
Cristi Farrell (Broomall, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) opened the scoring with a redirection of Ruth's shot at 1:12 for her sixth goal of the year. Junior
Nikki Dyer (Kildeer, Ill./Stevenson) followed just 26 seconds later with another goal, also redirecting a shot by Gettysburg's
Molly Latta (West Chester, Pa./Henderson).
Ruth was the next Bullet to hit the scoring column, notching her team-best 11th goal this fall in the 22nd minute, while Emala closed the first-half scoring with a goal at 28:09.
Emala picked up right where she left the first half by opening the second-half with a goal, blasting her sixth this season following a pass form Woodman at 50:36. Woodman wrapped the day with just under four minutes later, converting a pass from senior
Molly Myer (Springvale, Maine./North Yarmouth Academy).

Katherine Corkhill (Paoli, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) saw only three shots come in her direction, but none of those attempts were on goal. The shutout marked her fourth of the season and the school-record 20th of her career.
The Bullets wrap up the regular season this week with a pair of Centennial contests. First, they entertain Dickinson College on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. on Shirk Field, before the aforementioned road trip to Muhlenberg next Saturday.
