NEW YORK – The Gettysburg College volleyball team suffered a pair of non-conference setbacks at the New York University Violet Classic on Friday, falling to Rochester Institute of Technology 3-1 (30-27, 30-27, 25-30, 30-25) and the hosts 3-0 (30-21, 30-25, 32-30). With the losses, the Bullets' record now stands at 12-8 on the season.
Sophomore setter
Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) put together a good all-around effort, totaling seven kills, 58 assists, and 32 digs over the two matches. She also contributed five service aces in the night cap against New York (12-10).
In the opener against RIT (18-6),
Katie Heffner (Easton, Pa./Easton) led the way on offense with 15 kills and added an equal number of digs. Sophomore
Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) contributed seven kills and 16 digs.
Freshman
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) finished the day with 16 kills, including 10 against the hosts. She also added three service aces and four total blocks, while
Mekenna Sigai (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep.) tallied 32 digs over the two matches.
The Bullets pick things back up tomorrow (Oct. 6) at the Violet Classic against SUNY-Potsdam (10-12) at noon, followed by a non-conference bout with 11th-ranked Haverford College (21-0) at 2 p.m.
