Box Score

WELLINGTON, Fla. – No. 2 Gettysburg used a pair of 3-0 runs to defeat No. 4 Bowdoin, 8-6, in non-conference action on Tuesday night. Three Bullets scored twice each helping the team successfully close out a stretch of three games against preseason top-15 teams to open the 2007 campaign.

Gettysburg (3-0) senior captain Katie Hagan (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) led the way with two goals and an assist for three points. Junior midfielders Katie Ceglarski (Darien, Conn./Darien) and Megan Moore (Chestertown, Md./Gunston Day School) added two goals apiece, and freshman goalie Kristen Krammer (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) made seven saves to earn the win.

For the Polar Bears (1-1), junior midfielders Lyndsey Colburn and Bobbi Dennison each tallied two goals and an assist. Sophomore goalie Stephanie Collins-Finn stopped six shots on the night.
Bowdoin started the scoring just 3:49 into the contest when Colburn set up senior attacker Kate Donoghue.

The Bullets would answer twice in less than two minutes. Junior attacker Krissy Browning (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) and Ceglarski converted passes from senior attacker Alexandra Ewing (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest), who was named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, at the 25:39 and 24:22 marks, respectively. Moore capped off the 3-0 Gettysburg run with 22:51 to play in the first half.

It would take nearly 10 minutes, but Bowdoin answered with Colburn's first goal, and the team evened things up at 3-3 on a free-position goal by Dennison with 9:01 remaining.

Ceglarski gave Gettysburg the lead for good when she started off another 3-0 run with 7:18 left in the half. She converted unassisted, and it appeared that the Bullets would take the 4-3 lead into the break. However, junior attacker Jamie Giffuni (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) found Hagan with less than eight seconds showing on the clock to give the Bullets some breathing room.

Moore scored her second goal, unassisted, with just under seven minutes gone after halftime, but a pair free-position goals by the Polar Bears just 22 seconds apart cut the Gettysburg cushion to one goal at 6-5 with 17:47 to play in regulation.

Bullet senior attacker Jen Betts (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) scored what would be the game-winning goal on an assist from Giffuni at the 15:01 mark.

The teams traded goals over the last 8:08, but the Bullets were able to hold on for the victory.

The Bullets will conclude their spring break trip on Thursday when they take on Washington (Md.) at 9 a.m. The game will be the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
