GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg came from behind to take game one, but fell short in game two to earn a doubleheader split with Lebanon Valley on Tuesday. The Bullets earned a 2-1 victory and suffered a 6-5 loss to the Flying Dutchmen.

Sophomore center fielder Erin Ober (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) was 3-for-6 with two runs scored on the day. Her first run came in the bottom of the seventh of game one, and was the game winner for the Bullets. Sophomore right-hander Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) earned the win in the circle for Gettysburg (6-4). She pitched seven complete innings, allowing seven hits with just one walk and one run scored. Rubino struck out six of the 26 batters she faced.

Lebanon Valley (7-3) sophomore first baseman Crystal Nolen was 2-for-5 with two walks. She also drove in a run and scored twice. Senior right-hander Nicolle Henry would pick up her first win of the season, with classmate Jenn Roberts recording her first save for the Flying Dutchmen's pitching staff in game two.

In game one, Lebanon Valley scored a single run in the top of the fourth inning. Gettysburg bounced back with a run in the bottom of the fifth. After a scoreless sixth, and a non-threatening top of the seventh for the Flying Dutchmen, Ober led off the bottom of the inning with a bunt single for the Bullets. Senior third baseman Megan Dean (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) reached on a fielder's choice bunt, and Ober beat the throw to second. A Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) ground out to Roberts would advance Dean to second and Ober to third. Senior right fielder Meg Gorsuch (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) followed suit, driving in the game winning run, as Ober took off for home on the throw over to first. Nolen's throw to the plate was too late.

Game two would see five Gettysburg players drive in a run each, despite the Bullets saving four of them until the last two innings. They put together consecutive big frames in the sixth and seventh. Sagaities led off the sixth with a double, and sophomore second baseman Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) followed with a single to drive her in. Wallick advanced to third on an Abbe Miller (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) single to center field. Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) flied out to left field, scoring Wallick.

The seventh inning was more of the same. Sagaities drove in a run with a single down the right field line. The Bullets were able to score one more time, but that was as close as they would come in the nightcap.

The Bullets will return to action on Thursday when they play host to Elizabethtown, for a non-conference doubleheader at Bobby Jones Field. Game time is 3 p.m.
