She pitched a seven-inning shutout, allowing just two hits with one walk and nine strike outs. Rubino had a no-hitter until the top of the sixth inning. Freshman right-hander Beth McCullough (Ft. Elizabethtown (7-7) junior catcher and designated hitter Abbie Merrifield was 2-for-6. Senior center fielder Kelli Thon and freshman first baseman Sarah Church each recorded a hit on the day, rounding out the Blue Jay's offense.
In game one, Gettysburg wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. After Rubino had struck out the side to start the game in the top of the first, the Bullets scored two in the bottom of the inning off a single swing from Miller. Junior left fielder Heather Sagaities (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and senior right fielder Meg Gorsuch (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) reached base on Blue Jay errors. A Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) sacrifice bunt advanced Gorsuch and Sagaities. Miller's single scored the two for an early Bullet lead. Gettysburg would score again in both the third and fifth inning.
Game two saw four Gettysburg players drive in a run each, scoring two in the bottom of the second and again in the fifth. Miller led off the second with a triple, and sophomore shortstop Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) followed with a walk. With Miller on third, Yannotta advanced all the way to second. Freshman outfielder Ali Iacobucci (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) grounded out to the shortstop, scoring Miller. A Kara Kempski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) ground out to the right side followed and scored Yannotta.
The fifth inning saw two Bullets score on three hits. Sagaities led off with a single and advanced to second on a ground out by junior outfielder Ali Stoll (Swampscott, Mass./Swampscott). Wallick followed with a double to trade places with Sagaities. Miller then singled for her fourth hit of the day to drive in Wallick.
The Bullets will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Allentown, Pa., for their Centennial Conference opener against the Mules of Muhlenberg. Game one is slated for 1 p.m.
