Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 4 Gettysburg scored first, but top-ranked Franklin & Marshall tallied seven of the next eight goals to key a 9-3 victory in Centennial Conference (CC) action at Sponaugle-Williamson Field on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Diplomats the conference regular season title and home-field advantage in next weekend's CC playoffs.

Franklin & Marshall (15-0, 9-0 CC) sophomore attacker Jen Pritchard tallied a hat trick, and sophomore midfielder Sarah Meisenberg had two goals and an assist to tie her with a game-high three points. Freshman goalie Lidia Sanza made eight saves to pick up the victory.

The Bullets (13-2, 8-1 CC) were defeated in a CC contest for just the second time since the middle of the 2002 season. Junior midfielder Katie Ceglarski (Darien, Conn./Darien) led the team with a goal and an assist for two points.

Gettysburg got out of the gates quickly as it has on numerous occasions this season, scoring the first goal with just 1:53 gone. Senior attacker Jen Betts (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) converted a pass from classmate Katie Hagan (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) for the early 1-0 lead.

Just over six minutes later, Franklin & Marshall evened things up on an unassisted strike by Meisenberg. That was the beginning of a 3-0 Diplomat run that covered nearly nine minutes.

With 6:22 to play before the break, Ceglarski fed junior midfielder Megan Moore (Chestertown, Md./Gunston Day School) for a goal, cutting the deficit to one goal at 3-2. That would be all the closer the visitors would get, as Meisenberg tacked on the game winner just 1:30 later to send the Diplomats to halftime with a 4-2 lead.

It took just 36 seconds into the second half for Meisenberg to assist on a goal by freshman attacker Blake Hargest. That was the second of four straight Franklin & Marshall goals. Ceglarski stopped the run with an unassisted goal at the 14:52 mark, but Pritchard responded with a pair of goals 2:16 apart to put the game out of reach.

Gettysburg will wrap up its regular season on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. non-conference senior-night contest against Cabrini.
