Box Score
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior midfielder
Katie Ceglarski (Darien, Conn./Darien) stole the show on senior night, scoring five goals and adding five assists in the first half of No. 4 Gettysburg's 20-5 victory against Cabrini in non-conference action at Clark Field on Tuesday night. It is the second time in three games she has hit double digits in points, scoring 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in that stretch.
Gettysburg (14-2) senior captain
Katie Hagan (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) scored twice and added three assists, while junior attacker
Krissy Browning (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) had three goals and an assist, and freshman attacker
Hollis Stahl (Hightstown, N.J./Peddie School) netted her second career hat trick. Senior goalie
Susan Meyers (Ridgewood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) made four saves in 48:47 to earn her fourth win of the season.
Cabrini (14-3), the regular season champion in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, was led by senior midfielder Emilie Greto's goal and assist. Sophomore defender Chrissy Regan had a pair of assists in the game.
The Bullets scored 13 of the game's first 14 goals with only a Regan-to-Greto goal breaking up the run with 26:17 to go in the first half. The home team won the opening draw, and within 20 seconds, Ceglarski found senior attacker
Jen Betts (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) for a lead it would never give up. Just 1:18 later, Browning converted a pass from junior attacker
Jamie Giffuni (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown), who had a pair of helpers.
Following the Cavalier goal that cut the lead to 2-1, Ceglarski weaved through heavy traffic on her way the cage for her second goal, and Betts also scored unassisted 21 seconds later. With over 46 minutes to play in regulation, Ceglarski set up junior midfielder
Megan Moore (Chestertown, Md./Gunston Day School) for the eventual game winner. Moore had two goals and an assist on the night.
The Bullets continued to generate offense, taking a 15-2 lead at the break. Another apparent goal late in the opening frame was waved off for a crease violation.
Freshman midfielder
Jessica Crane (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) used the quick strike to start the second half, scoring in just 41 seconds on Giffuni's second assist. Less than three minutes later, Stahl would score her first goal of the night.
The hosts dominated nearly every statistical category, out-drawing Cabrini, 20-7, and taking a 30-14 shot advantage. The Bullets were also 2-for-3 on free-position attempts, and a perfect 15-of-15 on clears while forcing eight failed clears in 20 Cavalier attempts.
The Bullets will be back in action on Saturday when they take on No. 15 Dickinson in the second CC semifinal at Franklin & Marshall's Sponaugle-Williamson Field. The first game between the Diplomats and the winner of Wednesday's McDaniel-Ursinus game will begin at 1 p.m., with the second game coming 45 minutes after the conclusion of that contest.
