Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman goalie Kristen Krammer (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) made a career-high 15 saves, but it was not enough to overcome a 10-1 first half by No. 1 Franklin & Marshall in No. 4 Gettysburg's 14-4 loss to the Diplomats in the 2007 Centennial Conference Championship game at Sponaugle-Williamson Field on Sunday afternoon. Franklin & Marshall had a 5-0 lead just 7:29 into the game and kept the Bullets at arm's length the rest of the way.

The Diplomats (17-0) got a game-high five points from freshman attacker Blake Hargest on four goals and an assist. Sophomore attacker Jen Pritchard added a goal and three assists for four points, and sophomore midfielders Ashley Bevington and Sarah Meisenberg each tallied hat tricks.

Gettysburg (15-3) freshman attacker Hollis Stahl (Hightstown, N.J./Peddie School) scored three times, and junior midfielder Katie Ceglarski (Darien, Conn./Darien) handed out three assists.

The Bullets cause was not helped by two crossbars and three posts, mostly in the first half. The team also had two apparent goals waved off for shooting space violations, and Franklin & Marshall freshman goalie Lidia Sanza made saves on each of the subsequent free-position attempts. Sanza made 11 stops on the day and allowed just four goals.

Hargest scored the opening goal just 2:20 into the game when Pritchard fired a pass from the left post to the right. Hargest tallied a point-blank marker. Just over a minute later sophomore defender Devi Hensch scored on an over-the-cage pass from Hargest. The Diplomats were able to force several turnovers and keep the ball in the Gettysburg end. Just three-and-a-half minutes later, Pritchard scored the game-winning goal on an unassisted strike.

Gettysburg broke up the run after a turnover, which was picked up by Ceglarski. She streaked into the Diplomats' end and fed junior attacker Krissy Browning (Baldwin, Md./Fallston), who converted with 19:00 remaining in the first half.

The Bullets were unable to capitalize on seven free-position attempts, four of which were saved by Sanza. The Diplomats were 2-for-4.

Franklin & Marshall, which won its first-ever Centennial Conference title, claims the conference's automatic berth to the 2007 NCAA Division III tournament. The Bullets will await the tournament selection show on Sunday, May 6 to see if they are awarded a berth.
